Tamil businessman shot dead in Dehiwela

Daniel Sathasivam, 47, a wealthy businessman from Dehiwela was shot dead Saturday night by unknown gunmen inside the Communications Center he owned in Dehiwela, Uthayan, a popular daily in Jaffna reported.

Mr. Sathasivam owned several communication centers which provided long distance telephone and internet services in Wellawatte, Dehiwela and Kirilappone areas. He also had a thriving air-line ticket business according to reports.

Preliminary investigations into the murder revealed that Mr.Sathasivam has been receiving death threats through telephone from unknown persons for sometime.

Police are conducting further investigations.

Mr.Sathasivam is a father of two children and also ran timber business in Jaffna.
