Ruhunu Janatha Party submits nominations in Trinco

The Ruhunu Janatha Party (RJP) was the first political party to submit its nomination papers to contest in the Trincomalee electoral district in the forthcoming parliamentary election, which has been fixed for April 2, election department sources said.

The RJP has given Mr.T.L.Mendis as its lead candidate in the Trincomalee district. The names of other six candidates are Mr. D.Wijesekara de Silva, Mr.Gunaratne Gemunu Perera, Ms L.Anoma Shyamala, Mr.P.L.Karunaratne, Ms. Arumugam Malarvili and Mr.W.M.Janaka. All candidates in the list have given the same address, 14/14, Vajira Road, Bambalapitya, Colombo, election department sources said.

Meanwhile, all major political parties, the United National Party, Tamil National Alliance and United Peoples Freedom Alliance would submit their nomination lists to contest the districts of northeast on Monday, local leaders of these parties said.
