Colombo won't interfere in Karuna split - spokesman

Colombo will not exploit the current situation in the east to gain political milage, the spokesman for Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe's care taker government, Prof. G. L Pieris said Wednesday. He said that his government will not interfere in Karuna's matter because it is an internal affair of the LTTE.

Prof. Pieris charged that the SLFP-JVP alliance had no coherent stand on the ethnic issue.

The leader of the JVP says that Karuna's split is the begining of the LTTE's end. But President Kumaratunga says she will negotiate a settlement with the Tigers, Prof. Pieris said.
