Sri Lanka Navy establishes camp in Nedunthivu

The Sri Lanka Navy (SLN) has been engaged in establishing a camp in Nedunthivu, one of the islets in the Jaffna peninsula, since last week. This has caused apprehension among the residents of the village, civil sources said.

On receipt of a complaint by Mr.T. Amirthalingam, Nedunthivu People's Forum (NPF), members of the Sri Lanka Monitoring Mission (SLMM) Friday visited the islet and held discussion with navy officials located in the area, civil sources said.

Meanwhile, Mr.A.Amirthalingam said that residents would launch a campaign against the establishment of the SLN camp if it is not removed soon.
