Indian fishermen arrested near KKS harbour area remanded

Ten Indian fishermen arrested by the Sri Lanka Navy with explosives in their fishing trawler in the Sri Lankan territorial waters close to Kankesanthurai harbour area Sunday around midnight were remanded till October 22nd by the Mallakam Magistrate Ms Sarojinidevi Ilankovan, legal sources said.

The Indians were handed over to the Kankesanthurai Police by the SLA Monday morning and Kankesanthurai Police produced them in Mallakam courts Monday evening, legal sources said.

At the time of arrest the suspects were fast asleep in their trawler. The recovered explosives included a consignment of gelignite used for preparation of dynamites, police sources said.
