Grenade explodes inside Chinabay cement factory

A grenade attack took place Wednesday evening around 3.30 p.m.allegedly targeting a leading private sector cement factory, which is located in Chinabay, about 9 km off Trincomalee town. Prima Milling Complex, Ceylon Petroleum Corporation refinery, airport and Fisheries Corporation office are also located in Chinabay, police said.

According to an initial report, a person who came from the seaside had thrown the grenade and it fell inside the premises of the factory and exploded. Army officials rushed to site on receipt of information and had collected the clip of the exploded grenade from the site, sources further said.

The SLA and Police immediately launched investigation into the incident, sources said.
