Journalist Nimalarajan to be remembered

Jaffna Nimalarajan Foundation (JNF) is to hold a one- hour demonstration in Jaffna bus stand Tuesday in connection with the fourth death anniversary of Jaffna journalist Mylvaganam Nimalarajan who was shot dead on October 19th, 2000 in his house allegedly by members of a Tamil para military group which had close connection with the Sri Lanka government then in power. The demonstration is to commence from noon, media sources said.

Jaffna based journalists who have been working for regional Tamil dailies and Colombo based media will participate in the demonstration demanding that the culprits behind this murder brought to book without delay, media sources said.

The Jaffna magistrate had already taken off Nimalarajan murder case from the roll due to the failure of Attorney General (AG) filing indictments against the suspected assassins even after the special police team which conducted investigation in to the murder had submitted its report to AG, legal sources said.

The Nimalarajan murder case is likely to be dropped permanently if the AG fails to file indictments against the suspects who are now enlarged in bail, legal sources said.
