IT Centers opened in Mullaitivu Schools

Two Information Technology centers were opened in Puthukudiyiruppu Maha Vidiyalayam and Mullaitivu Mahavidyalayam Monday as part of the second phase of a project undertaken by The Economic Consultancy House (TECH), Non-Governmental Non-Profit Sharing Organization registered with the Government of Sri Lanka, to provide computer learning facilities for 5000 students in 50 schools, sources from Mullaitivu said.

The funding for this project was provided by TR Tec, a Tamil expatriate organization based in London, TECH sources said.

The opening event in the Puthukudiyiruppu Maha Vidyalayam started at !1 am with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Mr Kurukularajah, District Director of Education. LTTE Mullitivu Head of Political Wing, Muhunthan, hoisted the Tamil Eelam flag and School principal Mr Sivalingam hoisted the flag of the school.

President of TECH, Prof.Navaratnarajah opened the Computer Center by cutting the ribbon.

Similar event presided by School Teacher Mr Jeyaveerasingam took place at the Mullaitivu Maha Vidiyalayam at 1 pm Monday.

Following the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Sunderamoorthy and hoisting of Tamil Eelam flag by Director or TECH, Suhunan, the Center was opened by Karaichi District Secretary Mr Sothinathan by cutting the ribbon.

TECH officials said that they are pleased with the progress of the project, and said and thanked the expatriate organizations for funding the IT project for NorthEast schools.
