FCA condemns Sivaram slaying

Foreign Correspondents' Association of Sri Lanka (FCA) condemned the abduction and killing of Mr. D. Sivaram (Taraki) and said: "to gun down an unarmed man is pure cowardice; to gun down a journalist is to attack freedom of speech."

The Foreign Correspondents' Association of Sri Lanka, vehemently condemns the killing of journalist, D. Sivaram. He was simply exercising his right to report freely on current affairs.

To gun down an unarmed man is pure cowardice; to gun down a journalist is to attack freedom of speech.

The FCA calls on all parties to the ethnic conflict to bridge their differences without violence and to put an end to senseless murder.

The FCA urges a thorough and transparent investigation to determine who was responsible and ensure that they are brought to justice.

The Association expresses its condolences to the members of Mr. Sivaram's family.
