Jaffna Graduate trainees demand permanent teaching positions

More than one thousand graduate trainees who have been holding temporary teaching positions for the last nine months in Jaffna protested in front of the Jaffna Regional Education office on being not included in the list of appointments published by the Education Department last week, sources in Jaffna said.

Protesting teachers said that many untrained graduates and those who are employed elsewhere have been included in the list of published appointees and that many deserved trainee teachers have been neglected.

The protesters vowed that they will continue their fight until permanent positions are granted.
