President will avoid critic

President Chandrika Kumaratunge Bandaranaike told the SLFP central committee this week that she will boycott functions to which Mr. Vasudeva Nanayakkara MP is invited.

She told the PA's general secretary D.M Jayaratne that no disciplinary action has been taken against the Lanka Samasamaja Party firebrand who represents the Ratnapura electorate in the Sri Lankan Parliament despite several complaints made by her.

Vasudeva has been openly critical of the government on many issues such as privatisation and the ethnic conflict in recent times. His party is a member of the People's Alliance.
