Sports activities in Muttur given a boost

One hundred and fifty thousand worth of sports gear and other related equipment were distributed to forty one youth service and sports clubs in the Liberation Tigers-held villages in the Muttur east in Trincomalee district during the past weekend. "The supply of sports gear would certainly give a boost to the development of sports activities in rural areas in the Trincomalee and to produce sport persons achieving national level," a sports official said.

Trincomalee district parliamentarians, Mr.R.Sampanthan and Mr.K.Thurairatnasingham, and the LTTE's Verugal political head, Mr.Thangan, participated as the guests at an event held at Eachilampathu Sri Shemabaga Maha Vidiyalayam, where sports gear and equipment were distributed to the 12 clubs.

The clubs are: Eachilampathu Vivekananda, Muttuchenai Kamban, Verugal Muhathuwaram Kaveri, Mavadichchenai Chelva, Poonagar Nine Flowers, Poomarathadichenai Gandhiji, Karukamunai Puthumalar, Ilankaithurai Muhathuwaram Uthayasooriyan, Ilankaithurai Shembagavalli, Kallady Kurinchi, Puniady Ilankathir and Verugal area youth federation.

At an event held at the Pallikudiruppu Kalaimagal Hindu College, 21 youth services clubs were distributed with sports gear and other related materials.

Representatives of youth services clubs of Killiveddy, Menkamam, Pattithidal, Kanguveli, Mallikaitheivu, Narayanapuram, Munnampodiveddai, Pallikudiruppu, Manatsenai, Periya veli, Koonitheivu, Sampoor central, Kadatkaraichcenai, Kattaiparichchan north, Kattaiparichchan east, Amman Nagar, Pattalipuram, Nallur, Veeramanagar, Santhosapuram, Chenaiyoor, Ilakanthai, Ralkuli, Pachchanoor, Puliadicholai, Sampoor west, Soodaikudah, Thangapuram and Muttur Tamil Youths Federation were present at the event to receive the sports gear.
