Mr.Elilan further said contribution by the Tamil media to the liberation struggle of the LTTE is very much appreciated. Tamil media played a vital role in informing the world the sacrifice and valiant fight made by LTTE cadres in the battleground.

He said the Tamil media played a constructive role in the April 2nd general election and “Karuna affair” by publishing the true facts of the events on the ground.

Commenting on the killings of LTTE cadres in Thannamunai in Batticaloa recently Mr.Elilan said, "we cannot allow our cadres getting killed when there is a climate of peace. These killings have taken place in the Sri Lanka government controlled areas and the government should take responsibility for the killings."
