Alaiyadivembu Pradesiya Sabah (PS) at its first meeting held Monday morning unanimously adopted a resolution requesting the Government of Sri Lanka to conduct peace talks with the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) with sincerity and without duplicity. The resolution further said the government should not adopt a hard-line policy in finding a lasting political solution to the Tamil national question, sources said.

The motion to this effect was proposed by Mr.K.Janarthanan and seconded by Mr.N.Anandan. Chairman Mr.P.H.Piyasena presided.

Speaking on the motion Mr. Piyasena said Tamils should not give room for divide and rule policy adopted by the enemy. "We should not fall prey to the machination of the saboteurs," said Mr. Piyasena.

Another resolution, requesting the government authorities to take immediate steps to appoint a committee to determine the boundary of the newly carved out Alaiyadivembu PS, was also adopted.

All nine councilors of the ITAK were present. Mr.K.Pathmanathan, Amparai district Tamil National Alliance (TNA) parliamentarian attended the first meeting of the PS as an observer, sources said.
