At the recent election, the SLMC captured ten out of 19 seats of the Kalmunai MC. Six were won by ITAK, two by United Peoples Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and one by an independent group. Ten SLMC councillors with the Mayor and his deputy took oaths Thursday.
