SLA soldier's body found with gunshot wounds in Kaithady

The body of a Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldier who disappeared from the Thatchanthoppu SLA camp Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m, was found with gunshot wounds in shrub jungles in a non-residential area of Kaithady in Thenmaradchy close the SLA camp, at 11.40 a.m., security sources in Jaffna said.

Soldiers from the Thatchanthoppu camp found the body after a searching the area during the morning.

Chavakachcheri district Court judge, Annalingam Premshankar, who visited the site where the body was found, after inquiries, directed the Police to make arrangements to hand over the body to the relatives.

Details of the sequence of events that led to the killing of the SLA soldier remain unexplained, sources said.
