Amparai Muslims observe general shut down on Muthur issue

General shut down was observed in Muslim areas in the Amparai district Tuesday condemning the attack on Muslim people in Muthur and also demanding the government to provide humanitarian assistance to the affected people without delay. Amparai District Muslims Students Organization and Social Welfare Organization organized the hartal.

Normal life in Sainthamaruthu, Maruthamunai, Natpiddimunai, Malikaikadu, Sammanthurai, Ninthavur, Palamunai, Oluvil, and Addalaichchenai came to a standstill as all government offices, post offices and shops were shut down. Youths were seen burning tyres on the middle of roads. Bus services also came to a standstill, sources said.
