5 civilians killed in Jaffna Thursday

The bodies of 3 family men who were abducted by unidentified persons, Thursday morning, were found with gun shot injuries near Sri Lanka Army's Forward Defence Lines (FDL) at Pariyavilan in the Valikamam sector of the Jaffna pensula, Thursday evening. Gunmen riding in motorbike shot and killed a postal employee in Chankanai Thursday morning and a 59-year-old man was shot dead in Valvettithurai in Vadamaradchi.

The victims were abducted while they were cycling to market, Thursday.

Relatives and villagers went searching for the men, after they found three abandoned bicycles.

Later, in the evening their bodies were found at Periyavilan near Allaveddi near Sri Lanka Army's FDL.

Mallakam District Judge, Ms.Sarojini Ilankovan, inspected the bodies and ordered the police to conduct investigations.

The bodies were transported to Thellipalai hospital.

The victims were identified by the hospital sources as Perampalam Navakumar, 27, Sellathurai Kartheeswaran, 36 and Iyathurai Kumrakulasingham, 41.
