2 SLA soldiers die in grenade attack in Trincomalee

Two Sri Lanka Army (SLA) soldiers were killed when unidentified persons threw a grenade on a SLA patrol unit at Namalwatte in the Morawewa division, around 10 p.m, Friday. The attack occured on the Trincomalee-Anuradhapura main road, about 24 km. northwest of the eastern port town,

The soldiers who were admitted to the Morawewa government hospital in critical condition succumbed to injuries, Morawewa Police said.

Meanwhile, two Sri Lanka police constables were injured in a grenade attack on a police post at Munthal in Chilaw police division in the northwestern province, around 10:30 p.m., Friday. Unidentified persons came in a motorbike had flung the grenade and proceeded towards Chilaw, police said.
