VOT to celebrate 7th anniversary

[TamilNet, Wednesday, 19 November 1997, 23:59 GMT]
The Voice of Tigers (VOT) announced today in it's morning news bulletin that it will be celebrating the seventh anniversary of it establishment tomorrow Thursday Nov. 20 in the Vanni.

The seventh year celebration was referred to as Vaanosai by the VOT. The Vaanosai program will begin at 4.30 p.m.tomorrow evening.

The broadcast did not specify the area apparently due to security considerations.

Artistes and broadcasters who have been associated with the VOT will be honoured at the function said the radio.

There will be a talk assessing the services rendered by the broadcast since November 1990 it added.

The VOT was based in the Jaffna peninsula until late 1995 when the Liberation Tigers pulled out from there.

Now it is broadcast in the Vanni twice a day. It can be monitored in Vavuniya town, though with frequent interference.

The Liberation Tigers also run a commercial broadcast apparently under VOT's supervision.
