Vijeyarajah is from Kannakipuram, a hamlet in Valaichenai, 32 km. north of Batticaloa. When the parents went to camp to verify about their son, the SLA first denied that the youth was arrested.

They later told the parents that he had been transferred to the 23-2 Brigade Head Quarters for questioning.

However, the parents being unable to trace their son, and had informed the ICRC and Mr. Joseph Pararajasingham, MP for Batticaloa.

Mr. Pararajasingham brought the matter to the Anti Harassment Committee.
